CW3 is Now Ulatu

CW3 Web Hosting is now Ulatu Web Hosting.

From a user’s point of view, nothing has changed. Your account will remain the same, our network and servers remain unchanged, and Ulatu is still owned and managed by the same people. This is not a sale or acquisition… It’s a rebrand.

During the past three years, CW3 has been administered by Alistair McIntyre. Over the past 12 months, the migration from CW3 to Ulatu has been a work in progress.

The aim was to bring the platform up to date and provide a web hosting service that was first class. In early 2026, we made the first steps by transferring hosting accounts to our new server called “Iceage”. At this point, the descision was also made to switch to the CloudLinux operating system.

We also acquired a new range of IP addresses and set up the Ulatu name servers. Many of you have already been exposed to the Ulatu infrastructure. For example, our cPanel administration area is hosted on iceage.ulatu.com. It was a case of doing the transition little by little with the goal of making the transition as smooth as possible.

As part of the transition, we created a new website for CW3host that will inform users of the change. We have also tried to make it as easy as possible for users to access the accounts area portal.ulatu.com. This was previously cw3host.com/members.

The most important factor for us was to try and carry out the change with as little friction as possible for users. We understand that many users will have the old accounts area bookmarked. The old CW3Host login form has been updated to a new page that explains the transition and will log you into the new members portal on Ulatu.

Our new website is also designed to loosely resemble the layout that was used on the CW3Host website. It is, however, based on the Bootstrap Framework and uses a fully responsive design to work well across different screen sizes, from computers to mobile displays and tablets.

We have retained the same familiar top navigation, and this becomes common across all of our websites. The members’ area (Ulatu Portal) now uses a custom layout to reflect our new branding. We hope this will greatly improve navigation across our platform.

The big question. WHY?

Many of you are probably wondering why this has happened and perhaps are wondering about our intentions moving forward. There is no single or simple answer. It was really a combination of factors that led us to believe this was the right path.

CW3 Web Hosting started in the early 2000s and was known as “Cyber Web 3” Back in that time, it was a very cool name, and it represented what the company was all about. It was high-tech, and the name was a good fit. Over time, the brand identity began to switch to CW3.

In the present day, the term “Cyber Web 3” really doesn’t mean the same thing. It is very much an old tech term, much like the “Information Super Highway”. These terms simply aren’t used anymore and have lost a lot of their relevance.

Why Ulatu?

Another great question! When searching for a new name, I had only three main criteria. It had to be short, memorable and pronounceable. Ulatu met all these requirements, and the more thought I gave it, the more I felt it was the right choice. I had the name list down to approximately 10 names, and Ulatu was the one I ended up choosing.

It is short and in many ways very brandable. It also has no dictionary definition, so it’s a name in the purest sense. We plan to use it a lot across social media, and we invite you to follow us!

The Future

Our plans for the future are to keep on improving. I feel that CW3Host did not evolve much over the past couple of years simply because a lot of resources were being used to focus on the switch to Ulatu. There were a lot of improvements made, but they were all under the hood and not noticeable. Now that the transition has been completed, we will be able to focus on continually improving the service we offer. We are also working to introduce new tools, features and services. These will all be listed on our website when they become available.

We also want to do what we can to help you succeed. I have always said if we can help, we will. Many web hosting companies will simply provide the service, and that is it. We go beyond that. We have helped out many site owners address issues that were not the responsibility of us as a hosting company. We will help where we can because we believe in doing the right thing. It is also in our interest to see you doing well.

The Present

We currently have a very stable platform that we can build on. We plan to grow but still remain true to our core values of providing a service on par with the biggest players in the industry. We will continue to offer the same level of service you have become accustomed to, and we will be there to support you as and when needed.
